Teaching Technical English: Corrective Feedback Based on Students’ and Teachers’ Beliefs

<p>The present study investigates the beliefs of students and teachers about corrective feedback (CF) regarding necessity, timing most effective types in technical English setting. This was conducted at National Technical University Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” with majoring Information Technology, Mathematics or Physics ranged between 18 22 years age. Methods included a questionnaire, interviews classroom observations. The from 55 33 collected during practical classes February – March beginning second semester 2019-2020 academic year. research has confirmed necessity CF for teachers. It also demonstrated differences timing: preferred delayed to immediate CF, while equally appreciated both. indicated that both indirect CF; had stronger attitudes though. students: meta-linguistic clue repetition, it elicitation. Completing survey, chose least two different CF. which requires learning more students’ teachers’ beliefs, benefits drawbacks each type, is emphasized. results may be used by practitioners, who would like use effectively teaching English. Future studies explore terms behavior environments.</p>
